Daily Study
Genesis 42:5
5 So Jacob’s* sons arrived in Egypt along with others to buy food, for the famine was in Canaan as well.
42:5 the famine was in the land of Canaan—The normal weather patterns that affect Africa also reached north into Palestine and Syria. Numerous caravans of its people, therefore, poured over the sandy desert of Suez with their beasts of burden for the purchase of grain, and among others, “the sons of Israel” were compelled to undertake the journey.
We will soon be finishing the book of Genesis. I would like to hear from you on what book you would like to study next. Please let me know in person or by e-mailing me Web Servant.
ANDY’S THOUGHTS
The Great Commission
Jesus came into this world to save sinners because those of us who have sinned have been separated from God, a separation that would last for an eternity. Therefore we needed saving from that destruction. To fulfill justice, the only way we could be saved was if the penalty for our sins, which was death (Romans 6:23), was paid by someone. That is what Jesus did for us.After living a sinless life for thirty-three years, he allowed cruel men to convict him falsely, beat him horribly, mock him blasphemously, crown him with thorns then nail him to a cross just outside of Jerusalem where he died for us after several hours of pain with our sins plastered upon him.The nails did not hold him to the cross, his love did.His disciples laid him in a borrowed tomb, but after three days God raised him victoriously from the dead.As the book of Revelation says, the one “who was dead, and has come to life” (Rev 2:8).As he now lives, so shall we.The tragic day of his death has turned into a wonderful day of salvation for all who will follow him! That is good news, the gospel of Christ.
The Lord wants his disciples to share that wonderful news with all who will listen. He died for everyone, so naturally he wants everyone to hear the message of salvation.Whether they accept it or not is their own choice. They can choose to hold on to their own sins, and suffer the eternal penalty for them, or they can choose life in Christ, but they must hear about what Jesus did for them to have the choice. How can they hear unless someone shares the message with them?
In our text this morning, Jesus told his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. In Greek, all nations is transliterated as “ta ethnee,” that is every ethnic group needs to hear, no matter where they are in the world, next door to us or far away overseas.God wants all to hear the gospel that saves (Romans 1:16).It is up to us to share the message.
God bless you this morning as we worship the savior together.

What You Can Expect When Worshiping With Us
YOU CAN EXPECT to find a group of Christians assembled to worship God through .Jesus Christ His Son. This worship consists of "studying the Holy Scriptures, praying, and singing, observing the Lord's Supper, and contributing of our means. These Christians worship as Christ directed the first century disciples (John 4:24; 2 Timothy 2: 15; I Timothy 2:8; Ephesians 5: I 9; Acts 20:7; I Corinthians 16: 1-2).
You can expect these churches to have a wholesome respect for the inspired word of God, the SOLE and COMPLETE AUTHORITY in religion today. "If any men speak let him speak as the
Oracles of God" (l Peter 4: 11). "Let us all walk by the, same rule" (Philippians '3)6). Since churches of Christ accept the Word of God as an all-sufficient rule of faith and practice you can expect them to reject all human 'creeds (Galatians '1:8-9: Revelation 22: 18-19:
Since Jesus declared. "Upon this rock I will build ·my. Church" (Matthew 16:18), churches of Christ are identified as belonging to Him. . (Romans 16:16). In these churches you will. Hear everyone entreated to obey the Lord's commands, namely: BELIEVE in Christ (John 8:24), REPENT (Luke 13:3) CONFESS Christ (Matthew 10:32), and be BAPTIZED into Christ (Mark 16: 16; Acts 2:38) in order to become a Christian, a member of the Lord's church. After becoming a Christian these disciples are then urged to continue faithfully in worshipping and serving the Lord as the New Testament directs.
You may expect to hear gospel preachers pleading for all who would follow Christ to return to the original pattern of Christianity as revealed in the New Testament. It is their conviction that since the Word of God is the seed of the Kingdom (Luke 8: 11), if it ALONE is planted in the hearts of men it will produce the same fruit today as it did in the first century I This product will be New Testament Christianity.
Churches of Christ wish to commend to all people everywhere this basic approach to serving God, It is the 'conviction of these Christians that this is the only real answer to Christian UNITY and FELLOWSHIP in CHRIST! (Ephesians 4:5; I Corinthians 1:10).
